Before you begin,
you should know
that the whole of the universe
is conspiring
to give you an immaculate canvas
from which to paint the masterpiece
that will become your life.

It has laid itself out before you
in total surrender,
its skin made from the finest fibers
of magic
and of mystery
and just a little reverence for history.

For my part,
I will try to offer some direction,
occasional instruction,
based on my own life’s work,

But more than that, I’d like to give you
tools,
possiblity.
Colors, and swatches,
brushes and sponges,
woodblocks and knives -
anything
to allow you to experience
the true boundless nature
of your potential.

A masterpiece.

There will be no other outcome,
I know.

But in any case,
let my life, my offering,
be enough
for you to reach to the farthest edges
that you imagine
with a brush of your choosing
to paint landscapes
the world has not yet dreamed.
